🧵 Full Beginner Course
Join us for our Full Beginner class – the perfect starting point for anyone wanting to learn how to sew with confidence! Whether you’ve never touched a machine or you’re looking to refresh your skills, this hands-on course is designed to take you from beginner to confident home sewist.
Our classes are 3 hours per sessions, one session per week, 12 sessions total
What You’ll Learn:
✅ Understanding Your Sewing Machine
We’ll guide you through the parts of a sewing machine, how to thread it, wind a bobbin, adjust tension, and solve common issues.
✅ Essential Sewing Tools & Techniques
Get comfortable using sewing tools, learn how to use commercial patterns, measure and cut fabric correctly, and proper finishing of seams.
✅ Basic Sewing Skills
Master straight stitching, pivoting, sewing curves, and how to use patterns to create beautifully constructed garments.
✅ Intro to Overlocking
Learn the basics of using an overlocker to give your garments a neat, professional finish. We’ll show you how to thread it, adjust settings, and practice finishing seams.
✂️ Projects You’ll Complete:
Throughout the course, you will complete four beginner-friendly clothing items from scratch:
👖 Pair of Pants – Learn basic construction, inserting elastic or a waistband, and hemming techniques
👗 Skirt – A great introduction to pattern reading, fitting, and adding fasteners
👚 Shirt/Blouse – Understand more detailed garment assembly, facings, and neat seam finishes
🧥 Cardigan – Work with stretch fabrics and refine your finishing techniques for a wearable layer
Choose one of the following patterns: (size and stock dependent)
📦 What’s Included:
✔️ Sewing Manual – A printed guide filled with techniques, tips, and space for notes
✔️ Sewing Classes – Step-by-step instruction from our experienced tutor in a supportive setting
✔️ Full Pattern Set – Patterns for all four garments (pants, skirt, shirt, cardigan) to use during the class and keep for future projects
✔️ Tracing Paper – Blue semi-transparent tracing paper (2 meters)
🧰 What You Will Need (Not Included):
✔️ Basic Sewing Kit – Scissors, pins, measuring tape, seam ripper, tailor’s chalk or fabric marker etc.
✔️ Fabric of Your Choice – For each of the four projects (guidance will be provided)
✔️ Notions – Such as zippers, buttons, elastic, or bias binding as required for each garment
✔️ Threads – To match your chosen fabrics
✔️ Needles – For both hand sewing and machine sewing (including stretch needles for knits)
✔️ Haberdashery Items – Any additional trims or accessories you’d like to add to your garments
A full checklist will be provided upon registration to help you prepare.
If you do not own a sewing machine of overlocker, please note there is an additional charge for using class machines.
